discussion was had with regard to the flooding problem on There was a further discussion regarding which projects to include in the 2010 capital budget. Items discussed were other street and storm sewer projects, as well equipment purchases, and recreation projects. The Clerk suggested that the Engineer, in conjunction with Public Works staff, rank some of the infrastructure items in terms of a priority list. The Engineer concurred. The governing body agreed. The Clerk reported that with regard to the UCC Ordinance and the construction office set-up, a great deal of progress had been made. He indicated that the new construction official had been named, Patrick Malia, who will be commencing employment December 1, 2009. He added that the governing body had authorized a shared services agreement with North Wildwood that will include the services of the technical assistant (TACO), who will assist Wildwood Crest with setting up the Borough’s office but that our long term intention would be that a current permanent employee in the Borough will be moved to those office functions. He added that renovations are in progress to accommodate the construction office staff. The Clerk stressed that it will be a two year agreement with North Wildwood, to include third party inspections, which may ultimately result in a longer term. The Clerk was asked how the change would affect any pending construction projects in Wildwood Crest. The Clerk responded that it was his understanding that those pending projects for which Wildwood has already collected fees would require Wildwood, under the law, to complete. Concerning the second floor, Borough Hall, renovations, the Clerk reported that the project is moving forward, noting that the current second floor conference room would be renovated to become the construction office. With
regard to the telephone system at the Mrs.
Gould provided a report on plans for the 2010 Centennial Celebration.
She distributed a copy of a letter to be sent to Wildwood Crest
businesses requesting donations to the Centennial Committee for events
to be planned. She added that her committee has had several meetings.
The committee is working on publishing two booklets to be sold. One of
the books would be a pictorial history of Wildwood Crest. The second
book depicting “then and now” photos of structures in Wildwood
Crest. She added that the committee has already been selling t-shirts
and sweatshirts to raise money. It was clarified that it is being run as
a separate entity from the Borough. Mrs. Gould also indicated that the
summer concert series in 2010 will be promoted as the “Centennial
Concert Series.” Additionally, there will be naming of parks around
the Borough. A bike parade has also been suggested, as well as a
“Little Mr. and Miss” contest. There will also be a “Through the
Century” fashion show to be done at the The Clerk reported that proposals had been received for a Borough-wide telephone system for the 2010 capital budget. He indicated that one of the proposals required additional detail. That vendor has been requested to provide a more detailed quote in order for the Borough to be able to fully compare the quotes received. Ann Fitzgerald of the Hydrofest was scheduled to make a presentation to the governing body, but did not appear. Mr. Cabrera reported that she had appeared before the Tourism Development Commission on November 2, and provided that body with her report on the 2009 Hydrofest. He indicated that her requested dates for the 2010 Hydrofest are September 10 and 11, 2010. The Clerk reported that he had supplied to each member of the governing body materials regarding the proposed school land sale. He asked the governing body to review the materials in order that action may be commenced at the next meeting.
