THE WILDWOODS BIKE TOUR JUNE 15
The
Wildwood Crest Recreation Department, in conjunction with the
Greater Wildwood Tourism Improvement and Development Authority and
the Wildwood Crest Tourism Development Commission, will host the
third annual Wheelin’ The Wildwoods Bike Tour, on Sunday, June
15. The tour is a fun, non-competitive event that offers the
opportunity to experience the Wildwoods and surrounding shore
areas through bike rides of 26 or 10 miles.
The Wheelin’
The Wildwoods Bike Tour is held on Fathers’ Day morning to help
this a true family event. Riders will get to experience ocean
views, wetlands, the intercoastal waterway, the world-famous
Wildwood Boardwalk and more.
Race-day
registration begins at
7 a.m.
The 26-mile race will begin at
8 a.m.
, with the 10-mile race going off by
8:30 a.m.
A free post-event party will begin at
10 a.m.
The start and finish of the race, as well as the post-event party,
will take place at Wisteria and Road and
New Jersey Avenue
.

The Wildwoods participants will be treated to a wide array of
amenities, including a Wheelin’ The Wildwoods T-shirt,
entertainment, food and family fun.

SUMMER
BASKETBALL REGISTRATION
The
Borough of Wildwood Crest Recreation Department is currently
accepting registration for its various summer basketball leagues.
Leagues include grammar school boys (grades 5-8), grammar school
girls (grades 6-8), high school boys (grades 9-12) and high school
girls (grades 9-12).
Leagues
will begin in late June and run through mid to late August.
Registration
must be made in person at the
Wildwood
Crest
Pier
Recreation
Center
at
5800 Ocean Avenue
. Fee for each league is $20 per player and includes a T-shirt.

PAPER SHREDDER
AVAILABLE TO BOROUGH RESIDENTS
The
Borough of Wildwood Crest encourages its residents not to throw
away their junk mail, personal records, old receipts or other
normally discarded documents, as the borough has purchased a
commercial shredding machine at no expense to taxpayers.
The
shredding machine is located at the
Crest
Pier
Recreation
Center
and is available for use by residents Monday through Friday from
2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5 to 8
p.m.
through August. Available hours will change in September.
“The
residents are encouraged to take advantage of this machine,”
Borough of Wildwood Crest Commissioner of Public Works and
Recreation Don Cabrera said. “It is important that in this
time of identity theft, a program like this is made available to
the residents, helping give them peace of mind by being able to
shred personal documents, records and other sensitive
materials.”
Cabrera
noted that this is the newest of the other recently implemented
recycling programs by the borough, noting the expanded Christmas
tree sand dune reclamation recycling on the beach, the success
of the ongoing beach and public areas recycling program and the
continuing public awareness recycling campaigns.
“I
am optimistic that as these initiatives come to fruition, we
will begin to see higher recycling numbers,” Cabrera said.
